When I started at Keyspire, I started with nothing. In January 2018 I asked my husband at the time for a separation, 2 weeks later, I got let go from my 8 year long career in the infrastructure finance field. During 2018-2020 I lost my home, my job, my marriage, my friends and had to declare financial debt proposal and get a trustee to settle my accounts because I couldn't afford to live anymore and I was living at a friend's house and with my mother.
When I started at Keyspire, I started a new. I eventually got a little apartment of my own and began to work on my self growth.
I was supposed to go to a live 3 day workshop in may 2020, but since I started only a few weeks before the pandemic, the workshop got cancelled.
I first started learning about REI by watching Coffee with Michael and writing executive summaries about them lol
My learning disability with dyscalculia prevented me from being able to fully wrap my head around with the numbers and the intricate process of what it takes to purchase an income property.
I began to participate in Scott's masterclasses, income property lands trainings and finally finished a virtual 3-day workshop! Working on the RPM and LFD courses also helped. Slowly, I found myself beginning to finally grasp the basic understanding of REI and the many ways you can invest. I found myself talking about real estate investing with confidence!
Still, I didn't think it could ever be for me. I had a consumer debt proposal I was paying off, I was renting a 2 bedroom apartment and I persevered into educating myself. Beginnings are never easy.
Managing the Keyspire Milestone Awards has provided me the opportunity to dive deep in the community and read about what and how our members attained their success. I was so inspired to read about how many investors came from humble beginnings, and reading about how they achieved their success motivated me to find my own.
On day my mother told me she was thinking of selling her condo in High Park Toronto.
Through my education at Keyspire I knew the condo was a gold mine, so when my mother approached me and told me she wanted to sell, I jumped at the chance to change our lives. I decided I was going to use the condominium to invest in my first REI property. My mother and I formed a joint venture partnership, her being the financial partner and me being the working partner.
We sold her condominium and bought a turn-key property that had a full in-law suite.
This property has now provided me with the financial security to be able to take care of my mother and will be passed down to my son to create wealth legacy
I have increased my net worth from $0 to $800.
My goal is to work on improving my credit score over the next couple of years until I am in a position to leverage my current property as there is no mortgage on it. Part of my goal includes taking the LFD course to plan for my financial freedom day.
When I joined Keyspire, I had nothing. I now have financial security and no limits as to how I can leverage and grow my portfolio. Thanks to Keyspire I am a real estate investor.
Throughout all my life's journeys and hardships I had a belief and a hope for the better. When things got tough I told myself there is something better waiting for me at the end of this. Keyspire was the door to my better, and my better is so much greater than I had ever imagine. I am living a dream I never knew I had but one I know I deserve.
